Brownie Meeting at Lizzy's House, April 3rd

Brownie Meeting after school at Lizzy's house April 3rd. Thank you!!

Allison read the girls a true inspirational story about a runner.

Working on another Try It Badge:
The girls took turns in pairs being a reporter and asking their partner questions about themselves that others might not know about. They all took turns reading the answers out loud. They also looked through magazines and found ads they liked and didn't like.

2. We have planned a mother/daughter overnight trip to a cabin (owned by the council) on the St. Croix river near Bayport, MN on April 19. We would arrive in the late afternoon and return the following day (4/20). We just want you to be aware of this date and hopefully keep it open. We will provide many more details as it gets closer.

Science Try-it Badge, March 13,2008

Brownie Meeting at Celina's house:

We will be working on a science try-it:

Science experiments:

1) Using a white disposable coffee liner, the girls used an assortment of black markers, drew a circle and filled it in, then dipped Q-tips in water and dabbed on the filter in the black circle and looked to see how many colors the black marker was made with. The permanent marker didn't change, the other markers the girls saw blue, green and browns.. etc..

2) Balloon experiment: Equipment: a bottle, a balloon, funnel, 1/2 cup of vinegar and baking soda. Using the funnel, pour the baking soda in to the balloon, add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the bottle, put the balloon over the top of the bottle and see what happens to the balloon!!

3) Messy project!! Corn Starch, and add water and stir, What happens when you touch the surface fast? What happens when you put your finger into the mixture slowly? Does it sink and get gooey or does it bounce off clean?

4) Light through a balloon, shined on paper...This is done in the dark...

Our troop started at Station #4 where we learned about ways to sell cookies. At the other stations we sang Girl Scout songs, played twister, did a bean bag toss. and tasted the new cookies: Lemon and Chocolate chip. We also did some crafts and made a bracelet, post card and megaphone.
